The European Ambassador to Uganda, Jan Sadek spent the whole of January 26th to 29th 2024 visiting with his family and selling Uganda’s wild beauty to the world on his social media account.
The Ambassador and his family visited Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Kidepo National Park, and were hosted at Apoka Safari Lodge.
“Back in Kampala after an 11-hour journey across Uganda, we have vivid memories of wonderful days in Kidepo National Park with its true wilderness & abundant wildlife.”. The ambassador announced on his X account on January 30th, 2024.
This is a definite plus from a top diplomat to direct promotion of Uganda’s Tourism Potential to the world.
President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta Assurance for Tourist Safety in Uganda:
President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta in his Pre-38th National Liberation Day Speech in all Media in the evening assured International Visitors to Uganda who want to tour the Tourism site to feel free and visit any part of Uganda because the Joint Uganda Security Agencies are alert to see that the tourism is safe.
He used the earlier part of the Address to account for all the Allied Democratic Rebels (ADF) who have been causing havoc to Tourists majorly at the Queen Elizabeth National part nearer to the Democratic Republic of Congo where the rebel normally operates.
The President also assured those who are interested in visiting Uganda not to over-rely on some of the security alerts posted by Foreign Embassies on Uganda’s security situation without consulting Uganda’s Security.
The President said he had to disappoint those people when Nyge-Nyge was organized because they had warned international visitors not to come to Uganda as the terrorists planned to attack the Nyge-Nyge festival in Jinja.
“I ensured all is well, not that I’m a fan of the activity but Uganda’s security image was important, therefore lies of European and America over security must be encountered “. The President said.
The President also boasted about Uganda’s capacity to host two major successful international conferences in January 2024, that is the Non-Aligned Movement and Summit of the Group of 77 and China with no security threat during the meetings.
He also used the address to interest Institutions and schools to begin teaching many foreign languages like Chinese, French, and Vietnamese among others because some of the international visitors may not speak English which is widely spoken in Uganda
Uganda National Wildlife Authority during the COVID-19 pandemic encouraged the concept of domestic tourism by mobilizing Ugandans to embrace visiting tourism sites to promote the continuity of the sector.
Uganda’s Tourism patriots like Amos Wekesa proprietor of Great Lakes Safaris were one of the tourism Private actors who advocated for domestic tourism that gained some height at that time.
