On the morning of December 31, 2024, as people were preparing to get into 2025, Gen.Charles Otema Awany, the Commander of the UPDF Reserve Force was summoned by Nwoya elders led by Muzee Aldo Okema at Ladyema, Lungulu Subcounty, Nwoya district to receive their blessings.
The Elders made it clear that they had rumors that their son, Gen. Otema was doing some consultations for the seat of Laybi-Bardege Division slot in Gulu City and their blessing is to give Gen.Otema good health and good luck for any political ambition he might want to pursue in the future.
Gen. Otema said it was an honor to receive blessings from the elders and told them he was traversing Layibi-Bardege to check service delivery and give a helping hand where he could. Otema however didn’t confirm that he was going to contest in 2026 but assured the elders
Todwong Richard, the NRM Secretary General and younger brother of Gen. Otema used the opportunity to remind Nwoya People to vote for President Yoweri Museveni because he gave Nwoya district to them with great love.
“Let me make it clear, President Yoweri Museveni shall be on the ballot in 2026, and let’s give him 100% “.Todwong said.
