The Minister of Presidency, Babirye Milly Babalanda has written to all the Resident District Commissioners and all the Resident City Commissioners including their Deputies to work closely with the Office of the National Chairperson field coordinators under the direct command of Hajat Uzeiye Namyalo Hadijah, the head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) who doubles as Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs as well as coordinator of the Bazzukulu Movement in Uganda.
In her circular dated January 12th,2024 to the District and City representatives of the President titled ‘Introducing Field Coordinators under the Office of the National Chairman, Kyambogo’, the Minister told them to ensure that the ONC Coordinators on the ground are briefed with key achievement in the districts and Cities of Uganda.
“Also, you are called upon to appear with them on the Radio to undertake mobilization “. Minister Babalanda stated in the letter.
She also informed the RDCs that at an appropriate time the head of the ONC and Senior Presidential Advisor on political Affairs will brief them on the development.
Geoffrey Orsbond Oceng, the Lamwo RDC said the decision to fully engage the ONC coordinators is very strategic and timely since it would pour in another human resource to support Resident District Commissioners in political mobilization because, in two years, the National Resistance Movement party would be seeking the support of the people to continue in leadership of the country.
Kidega James Nabinson, the Agago RDC said the initiative is great in supporting mobilisation and added that the ONC coordinators need to also be formally added to the NRM Constitution so that there is proper planning for them even within the party structure.
“These are the foot soldiers and are very important to our office in the transformation of this country by selling the manifestoes at the grassroots”.Kidega added.
Atim Betty, the ONC coordinator, of the Acholi Sub-region told the Elephant that the circular is just operationalizing their work with the office of the RDCs since they are partners in monitoring and drumming the achievement of the NRM government.
“This will boost mobilization for the president and for the NRM flag bearers, we are grateful to the Minister of Presidency and our Boss, Madam Hajat Uzeiye Namyalo Hadijah for making this official”. Atim Betty said.
OKetayot George Willy alias Orindi, the ONC representative for Amuru District said the development is indeed good news and they would ensure great work via mobilization for the NRM party.
The ONC in Kyambogo has regional coordinators in all the regions of Uganda and recently included district representatives who report to the regional coordinators with political mobilization, drumming achievement of the NRM party including monitoring of government programs in the grassroots as their core functions.
