Agago MP Says Compulsory Free Education to Children in Karamoja will End Cattle Raids

The State Minister for Mineral Development Peter Lokeris has apologized to cattle keepers in Acholi sub region over the rampant cases of deadly raids by suspected armed Karimojong warriors.
Minister Lokeris said the warriors have caused untold suffering to cattle farmers in Acholi and needed to be stopped.
Since 2020, at least 26 cattle farmers and five security forces have been killed in districts in west Acholi by suspected armed Karamojong warriors.
He also described the cattle thieves as stupid.
Lokeris who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Chekwii County in Nakapiripirit District as a Karamojong, he does not condone such violent acts.
Addressing residnts of Gulu City last Thursday, Lokeris said for a long time, he has been advising fellow Karamojong against idea of theft of cattle.
According to Lokeris, many Karamojong still thinks ancient practice of raiding cattle will make them rich.
He asked the security forces to do more and stopped cattle raids.
