Gulu University hosted the Coral Coatings International Woodball Championship from November 4th to 5th,2023 as a mark for the game in the entire Acholi-Sub Region leaving the University with a student’s club for Woodball and the Region finally having an Association of Woodball that would get full support from the Woodball Federation as continuity strategy for the game.
The Uganda Woodball Federation headed by their President, Paul Mark Kayongo already decided that the next Coral Coatings International Woodball Championship would be in Soroti City as part of compliance with National Council for Sports sub-regulation (2) of the Statutory Instrument No.38 of 2014 which requires registered Sports Association or Federation to have a countrywide presence, responsible for popularizing the sport they are registered for, among others.
Coral Coatings and Woodball:
Coral Coatings Limited is a professional fully registered light manufacturing and application company that manufactures both textured and emulsion paint products. The Company decided to support Woodball as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, but above all grow together with the sport.
For over 10 years now, Coral Coatings has been supporting Woodball, in the last championship in Gulu, the company injected UGX 40 million as the official sponsor in both cash and kind towards branding and officiating expenses at the event.
Currently the Company lists among its clients Muni University, Uganda Christian University, GreenHill Academy, Ndejje University, Movit, and Dott Services Limited among others. To this, Masene Michael, the Managing Director of Coral Coatings would tell you these are relationships cemented through their partnership with the Woodball Federation.
‘As a business, we have decided we support Woodball get known, we also get known in the long run’. According to Masene who was in Gulu, in early November, his team was also in Gulu moving around the City establishing contacts, and informing the people in the Region about the best paint products in the market.
‘So if Woodball tours East Africa or the world, we tour together, the partnership is worth it and we shall keep moving this journey together.’
The next Coral Coatings Woodball International Open Championship heads to Soroti City in 2024.
Masene Michael and his team would be looking into a new partnership as well to add to the ones he got in Gulu during the Championship. To him and his team, every Woodball open championship also means selling Coral Coatings, one of the strengths of Woodball in Uganda.
