Lieutenant General Charles Otema Awany, the Commander of the Reserve Force of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces has pledged UGX 75 Million for over 500 leaders of Omoro District currently undergoing ideological clinic training at Northern Uganda Youth Development Centre in Labora Sub-county, Omoro District.
Gen. Otema who was facilitating wealth creation and investment session for the leaders on Sunday evening of January 7th, 2024 pledged UGX 5 million to leaders in the fifteen Sub counties of Omoro who would have Saving and Credit Co-operatives (SACCOs) after their training.
“Because after this training, we would want you to continue as transformation agents in the community, I shall give UGX 5 million to each sub-county for the leaders who are here to achieve the objective of this training “. Gen.Otema roared.
This came after the chief organizer of the training, Lamwaka Catherine, the Omoro Woman member of parliament told the UPDF General that the leaders are expected to be transformation agents in the community as a long-term achievement of the vision of the training for Omoro Leaders.
Gen.Otema also offered UGX 1 Million to be given to the participants who would win in range shooting and handed UGX 2 million in cash as a contribution towards a bull to be slaughtered for the leaders at the training camp as his gift.
The Commander of the Reserve Force also used the opportunity to call upon Omoro district leaders to embrace government programs and investment as a way of moving away from poverty and read President Yoweri Museveni’s messages on wealth creation and socio-economic transformation for Ugandans.
“Stop glorifying poverty, you have to work hard, even if the government pours billions, provided our thinking is not rooted in investment, we shall be wasting time”. He advised.
Okello Douglas Peter Okao, the Omoro District Chairperson thanked the General for honoring their invitation to talk to the leaders and presented Gen.Otema as a UPDF officer who worked hard for peace in the region.
Brief Background about the Leadership Retreat:
The leadership ideological training themed “Unlocking the potential of Omoro District for Socio-Economic Transformation “started on January 3rd and is ending on January 10th, 2024 from Northern Uganda Youth Development Centre in Labora Sub-county, Omoro District as the Prime Minister of Uganda is expected to officiate the pass out of the leaders.
The Training was organized by Omoro Woman Member of Parliament, Catherine Lamwaka and managed by Okello Douglas Peter Okao, the Chairperson of Omoro district.
