Minister of Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees Affairs who doubles as a Member of Parliament(MP) for Palabek County, Honorable Onek Hilary Obaloker has confirmed to his electorates that he would be contesting and seeking re-election in the 2026 election.
In his statement on Sunday, February 18th,2024, The Minister is reported to have expressed his initial intention to retire from politics in 2026 but has decided to run for re-election as the Palabek County MP to further advance development initiatives for the constituency and the broader Lamwo district.
The Elephant was briefed that the Minister made the assurance while attending a thanksgiving Prayer for some leaders who had invited him to Palabek Town Council.
The Minister didn’t pick up our repeated calls to confirm if he is seeking re-election but Robert Okot the Personal Assistant (PA) to the Minister just confirmed to the Elephant that indeed the Minister is seeking re-election after being petitioned by his electorates.
The Elephant has understood that the people of Palabek in Lamwo have a hope of getting their district (Palabek) and have resolved that only Minister Hilary Onek could finish the job which can only be possible when he is still active.
