Gulu University Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Openjuru, George Ladaah has warned that his administration will not tolerate any level of staff indiscipline.
Prof.Openjuru, George Ladaah was addressing 63 staff at the rank of Administrative Officers and Office attendants during the picking of their confirmation letters after the six-month probation period from Gulu University Council Board Room.
According to Prof.Openjuru, many staff think that after picking a confirmation letter, they have immunity from being dismissed for gross misconduct and indiscipline at the University.
He cautioned the newly confirmed staff to remain disciplined and aim higher while doing their work because since the University hires it can fire at any level provided there is a breach of university regulation.
He advised them to read the Gulu University Human Resource Manual, the Employment Act, and the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act among others.
He also encouraged the staff to think about investing in their children to study since they work in an academic institution.
“You can’t work in a university and your children are also not going to school”. Prof. Openjuru warned.
Ataro Agness the senior Human Resource Officer appealed to the University staff to remain disciplined and committed to their work.
