We love you Todwong’, ‘NRM Cadres”

This evening of November 21st, 2023, a section of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Cadres comprising seasoned mobilizers for the Party, organized a small get-together to celebrate the birthday of the National Resistance Army Secretary General, Richard Todwong from Acholi Inn.

The party mobilizers included Aber Gifta the NRM Gulu District Treasurer, Akena Lamex Lambert the NRM Administrator for Gulu, Venessa Anyango City Councilor in Pece-Laroo division, Atim Winny Brenda former Vice- Guild President Gulu University, Lapyem Thomas Awany brother to Todwong and former Guild President, Gulu University among others

“As young people, we are very happy that the Secretary-General is doing a wonderful job for this country as a nationalistic leader, hence making 50 years is a big blessing from God, and within our means, we organized a small get-together here”. They told the Elephant.

Todwong told the Elephant that he feels happy that his life inspires others.

“Is good if my life inspires others, and they are spending their money to celebrate on their own, this is truly humbling”. Todwong told the Elephant.

Gen.Charles Otema Awany, the UPDF Commander of the Reserve Force and the brother of Todwong joined the NRM Cadres in cutting the cake at Acholi Inn.

Todwong Richard served  Nwoya County as an MP and was appointed by His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta, as the Minister without Portfolio and served as the Deputy Secretary General of NRM  humbly before assuming the office of the Secretary-General by 2021.

Richard Todwong who is 50 years old today is among the then-young people who volunteered to spread the gospel of NRM in the Acholi Sub-region and records have him starting Bolicup,  village saving groups in Nwoya by 2011 when he was a member of parliament to mobilize people to do voluntary savings for school fees and other strategic course. Todwong supported numerous groups that the majority have now turned into SACCOs.
